About

Hello! I’m Chris, a multimedia artist born in Luton, based in Birmingham.

Since I was a kid I’ve had a love of all things creative. It started with drawing, but soon branched into photography when my Dad passed down his SLR to me – my first camera, which I still have today. I also remember digging out my parents’ old Cine8 camera and directing my own films… although there was never any film in the camera, I just loved looking through the viewfinder!

Since then, I gained a First Class BA (Hons) in Contemporary Lens Media (Photography and Video) and worked on a series of short films, animation and music videos which have been screened in and around the UK as well as online short festivals and even L.A.!

Both during and straight after uni I did a spot of running for some London based agencies and editing houses and began freelancing as a videographer, teaching video workshops, shooting documentaries and working with musicians and orchestras to create visual pieces to accompany live performances.

In 2006 I took a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work in Japan, an amazing experience which I’ll always cherish. The culture is so rich in visual communication and fresh ideas, it’s been a huge influence on the way I think and approach my projects.

Upon returning to the UK, I moved to Birmingham to work as a Designer in the financial industry, but continue to freelance in video, finding the West Midlands a great base to work from, as it has such a strong and varied artistic community.
