2010 Roundup

2010 Roundup

I recently, as part of a short film submission, was required to update my CV. This is nothing unusual in itself, I’ve updated my CV plenty of times before, but this time I decided to list all the things I’ve achieved or taken part in outside of work.

I was surprised to see just how much I’d done without even realising it, some of it I’d even forgotten about, and it wasn’t until I began to list these things on paper that they really seemed to add up.

Looking back over this year has been a bit like that. The year has really sped by and I feel there is so much I didn’t get time to try, but at the same time, a lot has been accomplished.

At the beginning of this year, I made a resolution to become more proactive and to become more involved, and I believe it has worked.

Achievements of 2010
Started and completed Sky Attack, my first truly self-initiated project in years
Worked as Assistant Editor on Dead Hearts
Which led to…
My first IMDB credit
Helped Liam record several tracks for  a short documetary
Which led to…
My song getting used in a short film for selfharm.co.uk
Which resulted in…
That film being accepted by Channel 4 for broadcast in 2011
Which led to…
Being asked to work on set for It’s Natural To Be Afraid
Wrote and recorded a new song
Started my own website
Which led to…
Meeting Ian of Dice Productions fame
Which led to…
Collaborating with Dice on shooting a comedy sketch
Started Japanese lessons
Started indoor rock climbing
Saw Godspeed
Which led to…
Meeting Efrim
It snowed

At the beginning of the year when I set myself the vague goal of being more proactive, I wasn’t really sure what it was I wanted to achieve, but it seems I got a fair bit done anyways. I think the key for next year is to be a little clearer in my targets.

Resolutions for 2011
I’ve been asked by 3 separate parties now to collaborate on comedy ideas and sketches, so that seems like a pretty big must
I have a short film that I’ve been sat on for most of this year that needs developing, and hopefully shooting
I’d like to find a way to collaborate musically again
I’d like to visit my friends more often

Happy New Year everybody!
