It’s been a while coming, and what started out as a pretty basic project has grown into one of the biggest/most involved animation’s I’ve attempted. Some bits have been tougher than others but now I’m just so pleased to have the finished product up and running!

The video is based on a game from the 80s called Sky Attack by Tomy. My cousin used to own one when we were kids, and I always thought it was the most amazing thing because not only did it look like Tron, but it was 3D!

I originally had the idea back in January to simply shoot some straight footage of the game in play, but when it proved difficult to shoot through the eyepiece, I took to dismantling the headset and found the game had taken on a new aesthetic. It soon grew into an animation and the video that you see now.

Creeping Jaw Society provided the audio, using only samples taken from the game itself and warping and manipulating them into the beat for the animation to follow.
